Natural wellness has really hit the mainstream, and we are *all* about it! Here are the three upcoming wellness trends that we seriously can't stop buzzing over—plus some amazing recipes from the hive kitchen to help you translate all the goodness into your daily life!
1. Turn to keto smoothies to supercharge your day.
The keto diet is crazy popular right now, which means one thing—people are finally embracing the glories of fat. We're especially crazy about the type of fat found in coconuts—known as medium chain triglycerides (MCTs). These fats bypass the lengthy digestive process and go straight to the liver, where they're used as an efficient source of energy or transformed into ketones to directly support the brain. They're legit power fuel!
Whether you're going full-blown keto or not, you can definitely reap the benefits of our delish keto smoothie recipe. It's loaded with MCTs and other good fats that will energize your mornings, plus a little turmeric and propolis to get your immune system off to the right start.
- 1/2 avocado (3-4 oz)
- 3/4 cup full fat coconut milk (canned)
- 1/4 cup almond milk
- 1 tsp freshly grated ginger (about 1/2 inch knob)
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp lemon or lime juice
- 1 cup crushed ice (or more for a thicker smoothie)
- 4 spritzes of Propolis Throat Spray
- sugar-free sweetener, to taste (optional)
2. This year, quality sleep is queen bee.
Sleep is finally getting its due in the wellness world, but it’s not all about clocking in a solid eight. Quality is equally as important, and it turns out, our habits and the foods we consume have a major influence on our sleep quality. So ditching the blue light well before bedtime, avoiding late afternoon refined sugars and caffeine, and eating foods that support natural melatonin production (ahem, like raw honey) are all finally getting their share of the wellness spotlight.
Not to brag, but we're been obsessed with getting quality Zzzs long before it was trendy—and this dreamy adaptogenic tonic is our go-to for encouraging a deep, restful night.
Goodnight Moon Rose Tonic
- 1 cup milk (of choice)
- 1 Tbsp raw cacao butter, melted
- ¼ cup raspberries (fresh or frozen)
- 1 tsp powdered ashwagandha
- 1 tsp rosewater
- 1 tsp BKN Buckwheat Honey
- Pinch of sea salt
Gently heat milk and cacao butter until warm (but not boiling). Blend with other ingredients until smooth. Serve warm in a mug, along with some super comfy sweat pants and a good read.
3. Brain health is the star of the show.
2019 is *all* about optimizing your brain performance through food—like neuron-fueling fatty acids, lots of good antioxidants, and powerful adaptogens like ginkgo biloba and bacopa monnieri. But this year isn't just about enhancing performance—it's about nourishing your brain so it stays healthier in the long haul. And that's where the wellness-boosting properties of adaptogens, spices, and restorative royal jelly come into play.
If you're struggling to focus, feeling a little creatively blocked, or just want to support a healthy brain, this is *your* tonic for 2019.
